RAMS END SEASON IN SECOND PLACE

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9—Defeated champions, the Los Angeles Rams rested today in second place of the National Football League's Western Division, but they pointed with pride to three items:

1. They closed their season yesterday with a thumping 38-17 win over Green Bay to clinch sectional runner-up honors.

2. Their great sparkplug Quarterback Bob Waterfield, tossed three touchdown passes, kicked a 28-yard field goal and added five conversion points to run his season string to 37 without a miss.

3. The NFL titleholders, buoyed by a closing day crowd of 46,838, felt they were in with the Los Angeles citizenry. In five home league games, they drew 214,154, an average of 42,831 customers.
