In observance of National Book Week, the Slags (Student Library Assistants of South Fulton High School presented a most enlightening assembly hour on Friday, Nov. 30. Highlight of the hour was a play in two acts, "Missing Pages," which revealed how the cooperation of students, school personnel and library staff was vital to the effective functioning of the library. Slag Betty Miller presided with other programmed Slags including Erma Hayes, Rosa Gay and Ellona Glover. Music was offered by the school band and chorus. Prior to inspirational remarks and words of appreciation by Principal F. S. McClarin and Miss L. S. Harris, assistant principal, Mr. Bob Williams of the East Point Recreation Department presented trophies to South Fulton students who participated in the summer water carnival. Cited as outstanding swimmer was Edward Lemons. Other students honored were Anita Neely, Sharon Bowen, George "Sonny" Thompson, William Hayes, Jimmy King and Harold Paige. Mrs. Rubye F. Dhye South Fulton Librarian, coordinated the assembly hour.
