A great number of the Pensioners have unfortunately got the impression, that they must apply for their pensions on the days in September and March, when they are made payable, or that they cannot receive them till the next semi-annual pay day. The fact is not so. They cannot receive payment before the days on which it becomes due, but they may at any time afterwards. In March last a great number of that deserving class of men, under the aforementioned impression, came to town on what is called pay day, and had to wait, spending their time and money, more than a week before it was possible to give them a turn to receive payment. So numerous have they now become, that it would not be possible to pay more than a very small part of the whole number in one day.
