PROCLAMATION
We are publishing this morning, in another column the proclamation of Governor Strong regarding the observance of Thanksgiving Day. We ask that everyone read it and keep it in mind so that the purpose and intent of the occasion may not be lost sight of.
Thanksgiving Day is an institution peculiarly American, and its annual observance brings out a particular American characteristic, that of acknowledgment of favors freely bestowed. In this particular year we have much to be thankful for, not the least of which is that we are on the highroad to becoming nationalized to a higher degree than has ever been thought possible before.
As a nation we are possessed of means and resources never before equalled and which we are now using for the benefit of humanity. It is fitting that we be grateful that we are able to do so much. As a territory we have been given by and are still receiving bountifully from the government. As a town we have proven that we are possessed of the most loyal American citizenship. As Fairbanksians, Alaskans, and last, and best of all Americans, let us be guided by Governor Strong's proclamation.
