We received the following letter by yesterday's mail, from New Orleans.

FOR THE PUBLIC.

MR. SMITH,

I pronounce a letter imputed to Gen. John Adair, and said to be addressed to the Kentucky delegation in Congress, to be a vile and infamous fabrication—and I am able to prove by the testimony of Ralston and Floyd, two of Burr's associates, that general Adair left Nashville with Burr's knowledge and direction, and visited this city for the express purpose of co-operating with the said Burr.

New-Orleans, April 3, 1807.

JAMES WILKINSON.
