MILWAUKEE - (ANP) - Henry Aaron, the Braves' star outfielder who this year played a major role in making Milwaukee the capital city of the major leagues, now is seeking to enhance Milwaukee's reputation as the beer capital of the nation.
Hammerin' Hank has been appointed a special sports promotion representative of the Miller Brewing Company, the firm that has sponsored the Braves' radio broadcasts for the five years the team has been in Milwaukee.
Named along with Aaron are Bob Trowbridge, Milwaukee hurler, and Joe Taylor, property manager and assistant trainer.
TO TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY
From now until February, the three Braves will travel throughout the United States in behalf of Miller High Life. Besides making appearances before athletic, civic church and social groups, they will show sports films from Miller's extensive library. They will rejoin the Braves next spring.
In 1957, while Trowbridge had a record of seven wins and five defeats, Aaron enjoyed the most successful season in his major league career. He topped both leagues with 132 runs batted in and led the field in homers with 44 while pacing the Braves to the pennant.
He tied for third place in the senior circuit with a .322 batting average slightly behind the .326 average with which he won the league batting crown in 1956. In the World Series he batted .393 and knocked in seven runs.
A native of Mobile, Ala., Aaron now resides in Milwaukee with his wife and two children.
