A handsome gavel was also presented to the lodge by the Misses Grigg, of this city. The gavel belonged to the late James Grigg, father of the donors, and who for years had been Tiler of the lodge. It was made from a piece of the magnolia tree planted at Mt. Vernon by General Washington and which was blown down by a storm some years since.
The lodge was also presented by Hunter F. Morse, of Washington Lodge of Roxbury, Mass., with a centennial history of that lodge and also a handsome medal. These were presented through J. T. Callahan, Master of Washington Lodge, which lodge gratefully accepted all these mementos in suitable resolutions of thanks.
