The school committee was authorized to purchase text books for free use in the public schools, from the school appropriation. The Treasurer was authorized to renew or pay outstanding notes.
The salaries of the Town Clerk, Treasurer and Superintendent of Schools were fixed at the same figures as last year. The appropriations are as follows: Street lights, $2,500; police, $7,000; sinking fund, $12,500; support of poor, $6,000; soldiers' aid, $350; highways and bridges, $20,000; schools, $15,000; town bonds, $17,500; interest on floating debt, $8,600; State tax, $17,246.84; town officers, $6,000; miscellaneous, about $12,000. The town valuation last year was $9,172,320.
