Arrested for Embezzlement.
C. H. Welton, a man about 40 years old, and a former agent of the New York Life Insurance company, is in jail here on a charge of embezzlement, preferred by A. S. Davis, a South Division street cigar maker. Davis claims that his clerk paid Welton $215 as a premium on his policy and that no receipt was taken. It transpired that Welton did not remit to the company and he was arrested at Charlotte late Saturday night. Since that transaction it is said Welton has been discharged by the company.
