From the New York Evening Star.

THE VICE PRESIDENT.

The Sunday News complains that the Mayor and City authorities have not shown any attentions to the Vice President. The fact is that Slam Bang, Ming, & Co. got hold of him and formed a crowd around him, as if to exclude the civilities: to which he was entitled by virtue of his office and his own public service. They walked him into Tammany, made him address the Loco Focos, marched him to the Theatres, and seated themselves beside him in his barouche, so that it was really impossible to get at old Tecumseh and treat him with hospitality, unless it included that motley group who claim him as their most particular friend.

The following merely as a specimen, is the speech delivered by the Colonel in a Barouche, in front of Washington Hotel at 11 o'clock: on Saturday night 18th November, addressed to Captain Parker's Rifle Company, which had escorted him from the Theatre.

My Fellow Citizens:--I come among you as a stranger in a strange land, and am a native of old Kentucky; but have been received among you as cordially as a native of your own State. I have been to the Theatre this evening to see the giant--a native of my own State, old Kentucky, a man who I personally know, and am well acquainted with, and how was I received? I was received as cordially as a native of your own State. And what did I see? I saw the Kentucky giant. And what did I hear? I heard one of your most popular songs. I wish to say a few words more, fellow-citizens. I cannot part with this corps without shaking hands with every one of you. I cannot repay you, fellow soldiers, in any other way without shaking hands with every one of you. You have been through the mud with me all day long. You have been over to the navy yard with me and back again to the theatres. I will shake hands with the captain of this company in their behalf, I cannot repay you in any other way.--(Captain Parker then brought his men to a shoulder.)

The People were then addressed by his Loco Foco friend Col. A. Ming, amidst groans and rooster crowing.
