FIGHTING FOREST FIRES.

Flames Have Devastated a Large Area
in Arkansas.

Little Rock, Sept. 4. - Disastrous forest fires are raging in the southern portion of Calhoun county. Already great damage has been done, and unless rain comes soon the loss will be incalculable. Fire fighters are working night and day. Many have become exhausted and several have been prostrated from the heat while fighting the fire. The fires have devastated a large area in the Ouachita valley, and thousands of head of stock have been driven from their pasturage.

The loss to stockmen is very heavy.
