—The Rev. Dr. Power, the pastor of the Vermont Avenue Christian church, Washington, bears strong testimony to the President's character as a christian man. He says the President "has never hesitated, when it was necessary to testify to his faith."

Dr. Power recalls the fact that Mr. Garfield publicly lectured within two years on the evidences of the Christian religion, and has been for six years a devout and constant worshipper and communicant.

Dr. Power refers to the general looseness of Washington life, and concludes by saying that the President has been a faithful Christian man where nine out of ten would have failed.
