"Mary Ann Moody, aged 19 years, daughter of J. Moody of Rosefield, Peoria county, was accidentally shot on Thursday, the 10th inst. A young man living with Mr. M., was playing with a double barrel pistol, one of which was loaded. The young man was not aware of this fact, as there was no cap on either tube. He put a cap on one of the tubes, and with the design to have a little sport, pointed it at Mary Ann, who was standing a few feet from him, saying he was going to shoot. He did so, and the fatal ball entered her side. She was to have been married to the young man in a few weeks."
