THE GRAND RESULT
LINCOLN AND HAMLIN
Triumphantly Elected:
Glory Enough for Four Years!

We feel gratified in being able to announce to our readers that the great campaign of 1860 has closed with the election of ABRAHAM LINCOLN and HANNIBAL HAMLIN as President and Vice President of the United States by the people. The proud banner of Freedom waves in triumph over the Union. The principles and policy of our Fathers, so long banished from the government, are reinstated, and the great work of political regeneration is auspiciously inaugurated.

Below we give a classified list of States as they have undoubtedly voted, and also of those still in doubt.

The States actually heard from and certain for Lincoln, with their Electoral vote and estimated majorities, are as follows:

Total, 15 States.—169
416,000

The above States give Lincoln an aggregate of 169 electoral votes, or 17 more than sufficient to elect him.

From the Southern States the returns are very meagre, but the following are reported as having gone for Breckinridge:

Alabama 9; Mississippi 6; Louisiana 6;
Arkansas 4; North Carolina 10; South
Carolina 8; Georgia 10; Florida 3; Texas
4; Delaware 3, and Maryland 8—making
a total of 72 electoral votes.

The following are reported to have gone
for Bell:

Virginia 15; Tennessee 12, and Kentucky
12—making 39 electoral votes.

Probably for Douglas, Missouri.

Doubtful, but probably for Fusion, New
Jersey. The Fusion electors in this State
are composed of 3 Breckinridge, 2 Bell, and
2 Douglas men.

California and Oregon, of course, are not
heard from.
