The Masters of some French Tartanes having reported at Marseilles, and other Places on the Coasts of Provence and Languedoc, that a contagious Distemper was raging in the Principality of Catalonia, the Magistrates at Marseilles gave immediate Orders, that all Vessels that came from Spain should perform Quarantine, and pass through all the Formalities practised in Cases of a Plague.

The Commander at Perpignan having been inform'd of the Measures that had been taken at Marseilles, thought proper, on his Part, to form a Line, by which he cut off all Sort of Communication with Spain by Land, as Marseilles had done by Sea.
