NEW YORK- (CNS) -In the most spectacular mile race of the season, although timed a mere 4:16.2, Frank Dixon, NYU's National Indoor Champion, was defeated by Don Burnham, of Dartmouth, in the ICA-4 mile by one foot in a photo finish at Madison Square Garden last Saturday. After setting the pace from the first quarter, Dixon was trailed by Burnham until the last two laps. From then on it was first Dixon and then Burnham. Dixon tried to shake off Burnham, but Burnham had too much speed. The finish was so close that Dixon and the Dartmouth star were both clocked at the same time, 4:16.2. Ed Walsh, Manhattan, took third 40 yards behind Dixon. Ed Conwell, NYU freshman, added five points to the Violet's total of 48 points when he won the 60 yard dash in 6.3. Harvey Kelsey of Princeton was second and Charles Shaw of Cornell was third. Warren Halliburton also put three points in the Violet bag by finishing third in the 60 yard high hurdles. Tom Tedd, Virginia, took first and Delmo Alberghini, Northeastern, second. Tedd's time was 7.4.
