Yesterday two men on Cedar street, near the Commercial Hotel, named Perry and Knelly, became involved in a quarrel, in the course of which Perry assaulted Knelly with rocks, striking him twice on the head, cutting him in a frightful manner, and, it was thought, fracturing his skull. Perry was in a perfect rage, and had he not been prevented would probably have killed Knelly. One of the stones which he threw went in at the window of the hotel, smashing the glass to pieces. He was arrested and brought before Justice Albert, charged with an assault with intent to kill, and his Honor required him to give a bond in the sum of $1,000 for his appearance before him at 3 o'clock on Monday, for a further examination. Dr. Hughes dressed the wounds received by Mr. Knelly, and although they are very severe, are not considered dangerous.
