Full Text
The following Lines were occasioned by a Seafaring Gentleman passing by Wenman's Punch house on London Bridge, and seeing wrote in large Characters, PUNCH BY AUTHORITY. And going in with a Friend called for a Bowl of Rum Punch, but was refused it.
Exhilerating Fluid, now no more.
The Merchant's Treatise and the Sailor's Store.
The Captain's cheering Friend, the Mate's Relief,
The Steerman's Helm to stem his boding Grief.
Tho' this Suppression is but on the Plain,
Pray Heaven the Act may never reach the Main!
Where I'll repair and soak my British Soul,
And sink the Spaniard o'er a flowing Bowl.
