the unauthorised act of Mr. Dashkoff, the Russian Minister in Washington, made on his individual responsibility, and at the repeated importunity of the wellknown Dr. Logan!--As this offer, then, never had been made to Great Britain, she of course could have known nothing of it officially. It will also soon be developed, why Mr. Madison at last accepted this offer, and sent on with so much haste his envoys to Europe;--when he knew that the English Court had not had an opportunity to accept or reject the proposition. This we repeat will be developed--and though the American People may be willing dupes for a time, the day of indignation and resentment must arrive.
