From Boston, September 4.

DIRECT FROM HOLLAND.

Letters were yesterday received in town by the arrival of the Hector, captain Layton, from Amsterdam, dated 12th July, which state, that in consequence of the communication opened between the government of France and England, and the rumors of peace, resulting therefrom, a very sensible depression had been experienced in the markets at that place; that but few sales of colonial produce could be effected at any price, particularly sugars; that coffee had fallen to 29 a 24 stivers, and was very dull sale at that quotation.

Captain Layton informs, that the Batavian people were much dissatisfied with the change that had taken place in the government; that the discontent among the lower orders, were loud and general; and the administration of their new sovereign extremely unpopular and disgusting.
