2nd Annual Shower For T B Victims Nets Money, Clothing

The Executive Board of the Atlanta Tuberculosis Association sponsored the second annual clothing shower for tuberculous patients from Atlanta, Fulton and Dekalb Counties who are in Battey State Hospital. Rome, Georgia.

Miss Jessie Mae Jones, Principal of the E. A. Ware Elementary School, was chairman of the clothing committee and working in cooperation with Mrs. Lucy Cherry, Director of the Negro Program of the Atlanta Tuberculosis Association, sent requests to civic, social and saving clubs and other organizations and individuals, for pajamas, robes, house shoes, house coats for both men and women, or finances with which to buy these articles.

The following contributed in helping to bring happiness and courage to many needy tuberculous patients: Doctors' Employees Club, $6.00; Progressive Saving Club $2.50; Independent Floral Club $5.00; Israel Social-Saving Club - $5.00, Ever Ready Club of First Congregational Church - $5.00; Ladies of Distinction Club - $3.75 Flamingo Social-Saving Club - $3.00; Only Twelve Social-Saving Club - $4.00; The J. A. M. Club - $5.25; Golden Dream Social-Saving Club - $3.00; Goldenrod Social-Saving Club $5.00. Howell Street Neighborhood Club $1.00; Friendly Christian Club- $5.00; Bible Saving Club - $5.00; The L. C. B. Club - $5.00; Serv-Ette Club - $5.00. Mechanicsville Floral-Saving Club $5.00; Ashby Grove - Camilla Street Community Club $5.00; Beacon Light Social Club - $5.10; Artistic Needle Work Club - 5 pairs socks, 1 pair stockings, 1 white shirt, 3 pairs house shoes. Needle and Thimble Club -- 1 house coat; LaPavots Club - 1 pair pajamas; Irwin Street Saving Club 1 house coat; Pittman Social-Saving Club - 1 pair pajamas, 1 pair house shoes; Twilight Girls Social Club - 6 pairs house shoes; The Aurora Club- 4 pairs Pajamas.
