The Smelter Track

Canon City, Colo., Jan. 26, 1883.

Editor Record:

Allow me through your columns to make correction of a falsehood circulated by one Hon. A. M., which is to the effect that I put track into the smelter without orders from the company, and that I received payment from the smelter company. This is a lie of his own make. The railroad company pays me my salary, and not the smelter, and I am not in the habit of receiving payment from both sides.

Respectfully,
J. W. BRIGGS,
Roadmaster.
