All boys and girls planning on fattening lambs or feeding baby beef calves this winter are urged to select their livestock and make preparations to start their feeding immediately, urges the county agent, O. P. Roberts. Those who are located in districts where feed is available are fortunate in the lamb feeding project in that the Montana Wool Growers who are meeting in Billings in January are sponsoring a 4-H Fat Lamb Show, and will hold an auction sale at the close of the show. This will create a better market than was afforded last spring.
Already a few club members have selected their lambs and have made a start. Sixty-pound lambs should be selected if the feeding is to start at the present time, since the gains will produce about the required size lambs desired.
Those wishing to enroll in projects should secure their enrollment cards and outfits from the extension office at the earliest possible date or notify the agent of their intention to feed.
A few club members are planning on again feeding baby beef calves, and any parties who have well-bred calves for sale should notify the extension office, as these club members are looking around for suitable calves to feed.
