FIRE SCHOOL WILL BE HELD SEPT. 16

Many Important Agencies Will Cooperate To Spread Knowledge of Prevention and Fighting

Minneapolis, September 3--Delegations from the fire departments of scores of Minnesota communities will go to the University of Minnesota campus September 16th to attend the annual sessions of the Northwest Fire School, conducted by the League of Minnesota Municipalities.

What fire is, what causes fires in your city, how to prevent and how to fight them will be the principal heads under which national authorities will discuss fire prevention and fire extinguishing.

Some of the subjects of general discussions will be: Fire fighting by modern methods, with emphasis on the application of such methods to the small fire department, by Frank C. McAuliffe, chief of patrols of the Chicago Fire Insurance Patrol; The chemistry of fire, by Lloyd H. Reyerson, associate professor of chemistry, University of Minnesota; "Problems of fire fighting and fire prevention in the small town" by G. H. Parker, chairman, fire service extension committee, National Fire Waste Council; "Combustibles, explosives, and hazardous materials, with reference to the oil business" by Clarence Goldsmith, assistant chief engineer, National Board of Fire Underwriters, and "Overhauling after fires", by Ernest Lee of the St. Paul, Minn. fire department.

In a letter to the fire chiefs of the northwest, Morris B. Lambie, executive secretary of the League of Minnesota Municipalities, says "You undoubtedly consider the training of your firemen as important and as necessary as your investments in apparatus and equipment. The fire school offers this practical training course for the men of your department as an inexpensive investment in improved methods of preventing and fighting fires."
