12 Year Old Girl Killed by Lightning

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- (CNS) - A 12-year-old girl, Clara Lee Stevens, was killed by lightning in Hebron, southwest of this city last week. Her mother, Frances Stevens received only a severe shock from the bolt while three other small children received no injury other than a scare. A dog and a chicken were also killed having been driven under the house by the rain. The little girl was reaching for a box of snuff off the mantelpiece for her mother when the flash came down the chimney.

Death resulted instantaneously leaving no perceptible traces either to the chimney or her body.
