Accident to an Ex-Waco Boy.

Nearly a thousand readers in Waco remember Frank Smith. In the express service of this part of the state, with his team and rig Waco, he was transferred to Fort Worth. Friday morning he received a painful wound, the story of the matter being thus given in the Fort Worth Gazette of yesterday morning: Mr. Frank Smith, one of the most thoughtful and popular express messengers in the state, was shot in the left foot yesterday morning about 4 o'clock by the accidental discharge of his pistol, which he was required to wear while going to the union depot to go on duty. Mr. Smith's run is between Fort Worth and Texarkana. The sidewalks and streets were very slippery as the result of the rainfall. Mr. Smith lost his balance and fell, his weapon discharging from the force of striking the ground with such vigor as to explode one of the chambers. The ball penetrated the foot at the instep and lodging around between the skin and the ankle joint. Dr. Adams made an incision near the wound and extracted the bullet. Mr. Smith, though suffering intensely, managed to reach the depot in time, sign his paper, books, etc., to the relief messenger. He endures the pain from the wound with great fortitude. Some of the express company that the accident will entail permanent injury, but it is confidently hoped that such will not be the result.
