Only 605 1946 automobile licenses had been issued by County Tax Collector Howard E. Wilson in the period that ended Saturday.
This represents a falling off in the number issued of 1,725 from those released in Monroe County for 1946.
"I believe that next year we will issue fewer than were issued during 1946," said Tax Collector Wilson today. "I don't believe we will issue more than approximately 2,000 D tags as against 2,330 issued for this year."
In addition to the D tags released in 1946, a total of 364 W tags were issued. There had been only 125 W tags for 1947 issued up to Saturday.
Wilson said the county tax collector's office remained open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including the noon hour so that office workers may have an opportunity to get their licenses during their lunch hours.
