Effort Being Made
to Save Pearson
Denver, March 13--An eleventh hour effort to save Clyde Pearson, condemned to be hanged at the Colorado state penitentiary this week, is being made thru the state board of charities. it became known here yesterday.
The aid of the charities board was enlisted by friends of Pearson and the board appointed a commission of alienists to examine him. The report of the board that Pearson is sane, but mentally defective, was given Governor Gunter. but so far he has not acted to stay the execution.
This is the second body of alienists to examine Pearson, the first being appointed by the governor. It also reported Pearson sane and at that time the governor said he would not further move to save Pearson.
It also became known yesterday that Pearson when 12 years old was sentenced to a penitentiary and that at five he had been an inmate of a reformatory. He is 23 years old.
Pearson was convicted for the murder of Sheriff Roach of Cheyenne, Wyo., in Larimer county, Colo.
