A Man Who Did Not Dare to Face Serious Charges Against Him.
A most shocking story of crime is developed at McKeesport. Robbins & Co.'s coal yard is located on the Monongahela river, a short distance above the city, and Sunday morning at five o'clock the mutilated body of Edward Coulson was found floating among the coal boats at that point. In August last Coulson married Jeannette Jenkins, and shortly thereafter Julia Crawford, a handsome girl of 18 years, made a serious charge against him. Coulson succeeded in persuading her to let the matter drop, confessed his guilt to his wife and was forgiven. All was quiet then until Saturday, October 21, when Coulson's sister Lizzie, aged 20 years, preferred another serious charge against him. When Coulson's wife heard of this she went to him and said, with tears in her eyes: "This is a worse case against you now than the Crawford girl case." He was shaving himself at the time, and when in answer to his queries his wife told him what was the matter he grabbed the razor and ran out of the house and was never again seen alive by any one, so far as is known. Sunday morning, just about the time his body was found, his sister, who was confined in a house only a few hundred yards from the spot, gave birth to a child. The dead man's body still lies uncared for in the mud at the river's edge.
