Alarm of Fire.—At 8 o'clock last night the bell on the house of Rescue Hose Company sounded an alarm of fire, and almost at the first tap of the bell there was a stampede of people from the houses and saloons, and in a moment Main street was black with people. The fire companies promptly got out their machines, but it was soon ascertained that there was no occasion for their services. From all our reporter could learn, the alarm was sounded out of pure cussedness. If such was the case, it was a silly and reprehensible piece of business.
