Anti-Strike Bill

TRENTON, N. J.—(FP)—Gov. Walter E. Edge (R) signed into law S 91, described by unionists as the worst anti-labor bill ever passed in New Jersey. The bill outlaws strikes in public utilities and for the first time in any state authorizes the governor to seize utilities where workers want to strike.

Day before crowds of unionists packed the gallery of the assembly, where the bill was passed by a close vote of 33 to 26, and burst into applause as a long parade of opponents denounced the bill as "vicious . . . unconstitutional" and warned that "the Republicans will pay for this colossal blunder in the November elections."
