B. E. McCown, resident engineer of the State Highway Department announced last night that the pouring of concrete on the resurface of highway 52 from South Point to Coal Grove, would start this week, at South Point, and the work would be rushed toward Lick Creek. One way traffic will be maintained during the work.
The sand and gravel for the job is being received by river and unloaded near Lick Creek, where the mixing plant will be located The new fill at Lick Creek bridge is not yet completed, but the resurfacing of the road from South Point to that point will require about six weeks, and by that time the contractors hope to have this work complete so that the concrete paving can be finished in to Coal Grove.
This five mile improvement. which Governor White's administration gave Lawrence county is scheduled to be completed before the first of the year and progress made todate in cutting away the hill in the Narrows'' where the road will be straightened. indicate that the job will be finished by that time, weather permitting.
