Fayetteville.—No additional appropriation for maintenance and operation during the next two years will be requested by the University of Arkansas, President Futrall says in his biennial report to the governor, but the university will ask the legislature to inaugurate a building program that will place on the university campus "at least $1,500,000 worth of new buildings." He adds that it is imperative that construction should be begun as soon as possible. Reviewing the progress of the past biennium, the president gives figures showing the total attendance in all branches for the school year 1923-24 was 5,077; including resident and extension students distributed as follows: Regular session, 1,558; summer session, 799; general extension students, 1,580; short course in agriculture and other subjects, 1,160.
