Friday Morning last, a Boat belonging to Daniel Martin, of Martin's-Cove, in the Manor of Philipsborough, overset, going up the North-River, about 14 Miles from this City, by which melancholy Accident the following Persons were drowned, they being in the Cabin & Forecastle, viz. James Barnard, late of Philipsborough, Abraham Martin, of this City, Blacksmith; a Woman & her Son, Names unknown; William Van Tassel, John Zuricker, Son of Mr. Zuricker, of this City, Stone Cutter, & another young Man of the same Trade. There were 8 or 10 other Passengers in the Boat when she overset, but they saved their Lives by being on Deck, & getting on the Bottom when she turned over.
