Volunteers in the Crusade Against Cancer this week are going into high gear, with the date of the county-wide door-to-door solicitation but 10 days away.
Heading the door bell brigade for the American Cancer Society in the county's Colored communities are: Mrs. Lillian Mazen, 3242 Charles ave., Coconut Grove, Coconut Grove Area; Mrs. E. B. Thomas, 1656 NW Fifth place, Central Area; Mrs. Winifred Kilpatrick, 4846 NW 24th ct., Brown Sub; Mrs. Carrie Lou Arnold, 2308 W. Sixth st., Hialeah, Hialeah area; Harriet Worrel, 1166 NW 65th st., Liberty City; Mrs. Irma Skyles, 4950 NW 27th ave., Opa Locka and Bunche Park; Mrs. D. A. Douglas, 14800 Tyler st., Richmond Heights; and Mrs. Elizabeth Espy, 14541 Pierce st., Richmond Heights and Perrine.
From 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 the Dade unit of the American Cancer Society expects to have 7,000 volunteers knocking on every door from Homestead to Ojus as part of the $100,000 fund campaign.
Mrs. Martha Logan Crawford of Coconut Grove, general chairman of the residential division, said the county has been divided into 39 geographical areas and that every effort will be made to achieve complete coverage.
An "extra added" for volunteers this year will be one of the Spring's most extensive fashion shows, being sponsored by Jordan Marsh on Tuesday, April 10.
The invitational event, entitled "Summer Seasoning" will be at 2 p.m. in Dade County auditorium.
Volunteers in every division have been invited and any person wishing to attend and help in the cancer crusade may receive an invitation by calling the American Cancer Society at FR 3-7347.
