UNION LABOR LIVES.

Notwithstanding the fact that the Union Labor Party had only five workers at the precincts out of the sixty polling places in the county, it cast a vote which foots up on an honest count to nearly 500 in the county.

In precincts where it is known for a certainty that between thirty and forty votes were cast for the party a return or count of but from seven to ten was made. The most active spirits in the canvas and those who were the hardest workers are perfectly satisfied at the result of a campaign which was carried through for no other purpose than to demonstrate to the schemers and boodlers that the straight labor party is alive and keeping up its lines, and keeping them up on bottom principles. A campaign in which the expense account does not foot up thirty dollars, and money left in the executive committee's hands, is not one in which any great result, as far as votes are concerned, was expected.

The Union Labor Party did not have even one watcher of the count in the sixty precincts in the county; consequently the count was made to belittle the Socialist ticket as far as possible and not throw it out altogether.

The candidate for Sheriff on what all honest men knew to be the "boodle labor" ticket received but 347 votes more than the straight and honest labor ticket. And this being the case, while it is well known that the boodlers used money without stint for
