COMMISSIONER OF INDIAN AFFAIRS

Dillon S. Myer, Commissioner of Indian Affairs, sailed from Seattle on July 27 aboard the Baranof on a visit to Alaska. The Interior Department official plans to spend two weeks or longer in the Territory.

"I was greatly gratified to learn that Commissioner Myer had decided to go to Alaska," said Delegate Bartlett. "This signifies a new and welcome interest in the affairs of our Indian, Eskimo and Aleut people. I don't know whether a Commissioner has ever been in the Territory, but I can't recall such a trip ever having been made. Mr. Myer recently started his second year in office. I consider him an outstanding Commissioner."
