THE MUSES.

ACROSTIC.

A useful statesman of the modern States,

Addicted to Tyrants and their subordinates.

Him: -when gracious George his pardon

spread,

Exalted high, with Hancock then at head,

Renown'd thro' ev'ry quarter of this ball,

None but thee two, as rebels, then should fall:

Others might live, the slaves of Bull & Co.

Reduc'd to order, peace, and civil woe!

Arch patriot, whom America reveres,

Declining under the great weight of years

A true Republican, the People's friend,

More can't be said to dignify his end,

Since he did always liberty commend.
