Full Text
The pretensions of the Radical papers and speakers that Texans expect nothing from the federal government but oppression, unless we elect the Radical ticket, is the most transparent piece of impudence we ever witnessed in times of comparative peace. It insults our manhood. It outrages all that is worth living for in a free government. It is an open confession of the venality and contemptible meanness of the Radical party of Texas.
By their insidious innuendoes we are given to understand that unless we abandon manhood, trample upon honor, and show a readiness to mortgage our souls to the devil for a mere temporary repose, we shall be deprived of all the attributes of freemen. Shame on such unholy and foul manifestations. We contemn and despise them and their authors.
Despite all threats of Federal bayonets by Radicals, ex-policemen, ex-school supervisors and all the instruments and agents of Radical outrages in Texas, we intend to vote for Richard Coke for Governor and the Democratic ticket down to precinct officers. All men worthy to be free, will do likewise.
