RICHMOND, (Virginia) Dec. 26.

Extract of a letter from Harrison county,
to a gentleman now in this city, dated
the 4th inst.

"Yesterday evening, a little after
sunset, a party of Indians came to the
house of Mr. West, in this county, and
killed the old man and Edmond West's
wife; they scalped and tomahawked
Thomas West in such an inhuman
manner, that he will not live. They
scalped a little girl of John Hasket's
and speared her in the side, but it is
thought she will recover; and took
Jesse Hughes's eldest daughter prisoner.
All this I can affirm, as I saw the un-
happy victims immediately after the
massacre."
