Full Text
Mr. Webster's Old School Master.
The venerable Master Tappan, who had Mr. Webster for a pupil some fifty or sixty years ago, received a very friendly communication last week, from Mr. Webster, enclosing a very liberal donation, and stating that he had noticed in the papers that he was still enjoying his intellectual faculties. This promptness to express his gratitude to an old school teacher, upon having his attention called to him by a newspaper paragraph, and to assist him in his old age, is certainly very generous in Mr. Webster, and shows that, although he has the affairs of the State to engross his attention, he still has time to remember the friends of his childhood. This is not the first time Mr. W. has remembered his old teacher, and this notice was as unexpected as it was acceptable. The sum enclosed in Mr. Webster's letter was $50—the second donation of a like amount sent by him to Master Tappan during the last two years.
