We hear there are Letters in Boston from Persons of Distinction on the other side the water, intimating that Proposals had been lately made to the Ministry that the Twelve Judges of England should upon solemn Argument decide the Question of Right in the British Parliament, to impose Taxes on the Colonies. And at the same Time, that some of the principal Merchants being asked what was best to be done respecting the Stamp-Act; their Advice was immediately to Repeal it, as the present Exigencies and Temper of the Colonies would not permit its Execution. -- That it was the Interest of Great-Britain to secure the Colonies by the Indulgence and Lenity of its Administration rather than disaffect them by Restrictions on their Liberties and Trade.
