I Thank you for this dutiful and loyal Address. The Assurances you have given to My Person and Government gives Me the greatest Satisfaction. My principal Care is to Secure to My People the Blessings of Peace, and the full and undisturbed Enjoyment of all their Civil and Religious Rights; and to preserve the Tranquility and good Order of the Kingdom. The Continuance of the good Harmony between Me and My Parliament will enable Me to pursue with Effect these great and desirable Ends.
On Thursday the Hon. House of Commons, by a Committee appointed for that Purpose, waited on his Majesty with their most dutiful and loyal Address of Thanks for his Majesty's most gracious Speech from the Throne; to which he was pleas'd to return the following Answer by Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer.
I return this His my Thanks For their most dutiful and loyal Address, and shall always esteem their Zeal and Affection for my Person and Government, as the best and most acceptable Return for my constant Endeavours to render this Nation happy and flourishing both at home and abroad. His Majesty relies upon the Wisdom of His Parliament, to frame such Laws as shall be necessary to strengthen and support the Authority of his Government, in preserving the publick Tranquility, and securing the Rights and Liberties of his People; and his faithful Commons may depend upon him for a just and due Execution of them.
