THE TILDEN BOOM.
The Sentinel has believed for months that Mr. Tilden would have a walk over at Cincinnati. Indeed, we should not be surprised to see him nominated by acclamation. The Democrats have not done much to the present writing in the way of electing delegates to the National Convention, but so far as they have gone everything seems to be for Tilden. The San Francisco Examiner, which has been keeping a record, publishes in its issue of last Friday the following:
The Democracy of Pennsylvania and Connecticut held their State Conventions yesterday, and the result in each State was, in respect to candidacy, a victory for Mr. Tilden. It is reported that ten of the twelve delegates from Connecticut favor his renomination; and the Pennsylvania delegation is said to stand twenty-seven for Tilden, without counting the four delegates at large, who will be most likely for Tilden. The remaining twenty-seven oppose him. Should the unit rule be adopted, the entire vote of each delegation, from Connecticut and Pennsylvania a total of seventy-will be cast at Cincinnati for Tilden. He has already the six votes of Nebraska, the eight of Rhode Island, and, it is believed, the twenty-two of Iowa, besides the seventy from his own State-a total of 176.
