DON BENNETT GETS HIGH SCOUT AWARD

Advance In Scouting Ranks

Highlighting the monthly Wilmington District Boy Scout Court of Honor held last night in the Superior Court room, Donald Bennett, member of Troop 34 and son of Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Bennett, 19 Wrightsville avenue, was promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout.

Recognition of an application for Eagle rank was also made. Applying is John Weeks, who has completed all requirements but has not yet gone before the board of review.

New members in the troops in the District were introduced by scout masters and welcomed by George A. Tenuta, chairman of the court of honor.

Promotions and merit badge awards made last night were as follows:

Troop 14--Harris Cooper, second class; Dickey Holland, first class; Alex Robbins and Ray Pittman, star rank; Louie E. Woodbury, life rank.

Merit badges--Prentice Sutton, home repairs; Charles Jarrill, cooking; Louie E. Woodbury, bookbinding, and farm home and its planning; Roy Pittman, friendship and art; Julius Howard, home repairs, horsemanship. and firemanship; John Campbell, home repairs, and firemanship; Ted Blake, firemanship.

Troop 19--Doug Davis and Robert Budd, first class. Merit badges -John Weeks, architecture, gardening. hog and pork production, and life-saving; James Medlin, safety.

Troop 23--Merit badges--Ottis Edwards, lifesaving.

Troop 24--Sam Hinson, Julian Rogers, Tommy Womble, and Bobby Martin, second class.

Troop 36--Jimmy Chamblee, second class. Merit badges--D. M. Wilson, firemanship and home repairs; Hugh Garriss, painting, pathfinding, personal health, and safety; Dickie Paschall, poultry keeping, farm records and bookbinding; Donald Lee, animal industry, bird study, music and bookbinding.
