From the Buffalo Commercial of Tuesday.

WAR RUMOR.—A gentleman of this city who arrived in town this morning from Toronto, says that just before he left that place a government express came in from Montreal with the news that a collision had taken place on the Northeastern Boundary, between a small detachment of British troops and the armed posse of Maine, in which several on both sides were killed, and among the number was a son of the Duke of Wellington. Great excitement, it is said, prevailed at Toronto.

The story seems to us incredible, or at least very much exaggerated but comes in such a shape that we shall wait with some anxiety for further intelligence.

This rumor is not generally believed.
