Full Text

Withdrawal.
Hon. H. M. McGill, who was announced in our columns last week as an independent candidate for Congress, called upon us in person and requested the withdrawal of his name.
He claims no merit for this generous act; but from others we learn that he was actuated by purely patriotic motives, and a desire to see the Union cause triumph over its enemies.
To the nominee of the Union party, Mr. Raynor, he will give a cordial support. Mr. McGill had assurances from many of the best men of Puget Sound that he was their first choice for Delegate, and as an independent candidate his prospects were flattering.
This should be borne in mind to his credit.
