Sad Case of Poisoning.--In New York, on Tuesday morning, Mr. Thos. Dewitt, a prominent citizen, had occasion at an early hour to use some brandy. The closet in which the bottles containing liquor were usually kept was disarranged, and a bottle containing corrosive sublimate, a solution used for killing insects, was mistaken by him for brandy. He took a swallow of the poison, and was almost instantly taken with terrible spasms. His cries brought to his assistance the servant, and a physician was called in and all the relief possible extended, but he died on Thursday.
