To Tell
What They're All
About Feb. 17-22
The many ways by which cooperative organization and action keep down the cost of living and help cooperative members and patrons achieve self-respect, self-reliance and economic freedom will be told in scores of radio programs and special meetings during Wisconsin's "Co-op Week," Feb. 17-22.
Throughout the state radio stations will provide time for speakers to tell both "insiders" and "outsiders" about the history, the principles, the achievements and the aims of the cooperative movement. Watch your local papers for announcements of these special co-op programs.
Tell About Services
Many of the local cooperatives are taking advantage of this annual opportunity to let their communities know more about what they are doing and about the commodities and services they have to offer, not for private profit but for the benefit of the user or consumer.
In Jackson County, for example, cooperatives will celebrate by holding programs in community centers throughout the week. These programs will be sponsored by the Jackson County Cooperative Advancement Ass'n., with local community clubs, Future Farmers and Co-op Clubs cooperating.
On The Program
Movies of Swedish Co-ops, round table discussions, community singing, and old time dancing will make up the programs. The dates and places, announced by Earl Horswill, are: Disco, Feb. 17; York, Feb. 18; North Bend, Feb. 19; Hixton, Feb. 20; Alma Center, Feb. 21; and Melrose, Feb. 22.
In proclaiming Co-op Week, Gov. Heil pointed out that there is now greater need than ever for our people to consider ways and means of working together and urged Wisconsin citizens to use the special week to "acquaint themselves more with the spirit and principles as well as the history and hopes of cooperation."
