Assemblyman Harold G. Hoffman, of South Amboy, has communicated with Col. Norman Schwarzkopf of the state police in Trenton, protesting against the removal of the police sub-station at Morgan. It is understood that the station is under orders to close on September 25. Mr. Hoffman in his communication points out that in addition to enforcing traffic regulations during the fall and winter, the police are needed in their present location to carry on their regular work. An effort is being made to have the mayors of the various municipalities urge that the police station be maintained at Morgan.
Not only are the Morgan police called upon to enforce laws in this section but also in Monmouth county; especially Matawan, Cliffwood and Keyport. In arresting criminals or solving crimes, the state police at Morgan station are often called upon to aid the municipalities of Monmouth county, as well as those from the station at Freehold.
